Performance measurement

One appearance in an AI answer: does that mean performance improved?

What a single result cannot tell you, and how to distinguish mentions, citations, visits, and inquiries.

Distinguish the different metrics

A mention means the practice's name appears in an answer; a citation means a source URL is linked. A visit is traffic to the site, while an inquiry is an action such as a call or consultation request. An increase in one does not establish an increase in the others.

Compare using the same questions and conditions

Record the question wording, service and model used, measurement time, whether search was enabled, regional conditions, and repeat count. Retain failed runs as well so the total number of attempts remains clear.

Read measurements alongside revision history

Put page revision dates, changes made, the time changes appeared in search services, and measurement records side by side. Competing content or service behavior may also have changed, so do not attribute every difference to a single edit.

A report should identify the next action

Identify specific fixes, such as unreadable pages, outdated information, or questions with insufficient answers. If there is no change or the data is insufficient, record that fact and when to check again.
